| Second language acquisition (SLA): how languages are learned | |||
| This is a good book to read if you're new to SLA. It's a very informative and it's not difficult to read. It covers first language acquisition also. | This book is much bigger than How Languages are Learned but it is not a difficult read. Learning theory is connected with teaching theory. | ||
| The Study of Second Language Acquisition is very big and comprehensive. | Skehan's model of SLA is the one that I think best accounts for second language learning. | ||
| The nature of language: English grammar, English pronunciation, semantics, pragmatics, etc. | |||
Answers the question "What is language?" This book is comprehensive and in 500+ pages covers grammar, semantics, pragmatics, phonetics, etc. | |||
