I just chose "Cultural exchange" topic since I consider that If you really want to know about any culture around the world, the best way is trying an exchange. Moreover, you need to keep in your mind that getting contact in a real way or context with any culture, it can help you a lot to understand and acquire not only the culture but also its language. I did an exchange last year to the United States since I wanted to get knowledge about culture and language also. It was pretty cool because you are living in a real situation in which you provide so much information.

When you are exploring a new culture is not essay since every one is so different. One day, I wanted to eat something at my host family's house and I just asked for a hamburger for dinner and they said to me that I could find it in the refrigerator. But when I got the hamburger, It was just the meat like a meatball and that's it. For me It was too frustrated because in my country " Colombia" I was used to eat it with bread, meat, tomato, union and so on. In short, each person, family, community or country has its own lifestyle and that's what we need to face at the time of learning about culture.

All in all, It is a great experience to get information about any culture and to compare with yours. Also, that's the best way to acquire a new language as a second one. Have you ever thought about doing an exchange? or did you try before?

I'm an American living in Korea and certainly Koreans have taught me a lot. Hopefully I've taught them something about American culture too. Speaking of American culture, I'd bet that most hamburgers get eaten with bread and ketchup at least. My personal favorite is the pizza burger with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese (usually on bread of course). Ever had a pizza burger?
