I'm check "(b)vacancy". But a correct answer is "(d)lack"
I think that '(b)vacancy' is more near a correct answer than '(d)lack'.
I am not sure it.
And how are those different 'vacancy', 'lack' and 'empty'.
I want to nuance among the three words.

When I was freshman, I had learned Chinese.
At that time, I also had felt a subtle of different in meaning.
It was hard.

Vacancy means available. If something that is vacancy, it has not occupied yet. For example, the manager position is still vacancy. It means the position is still available for people to apply. The hotel rooms are vacancy. It means the hotel rooms are not occupied yet so they're still availble for customers.

Lack means not enough or shortage or not exist at all. A lack of well-trained managers harms employee relations... means there are not enough/shortage of well-trained managers. That's why it results in affecting the corporate productivity. Another example, I don't like the lack of funding in helthcare system. It means there is not enough funding for helthcare system, which I don't like. Being famouse sometimes lead to lack of privacy. This one means the privacy is not exist anymore.

Empty means none or no longer there. The room is empty means there is no one there. There was a glass of milk on the table, but now it's empty. It means someone has drunk the milk.

These three words are close in meaning, absent. It absents in different situations. I really hope this help:-).

I am not sure the answer..
but I think that it is not important which word's meaning is near or not..
just in my opinion in languge what kind word is more usually used is more important...
so in my case just accpt it and memorize,,
sorry i am not good at english but just wrote down..

I think those three words are very common, but they are used in all different situations. Memorizing is not a bad way to learn. I do that a lot.
