Battlefiled tourism(sixzero7)

Postby Yoo Byoung Jun » Sat Mar 10, 2012 1:51 am

Battlefield tourism may have been made to make people alert on war, but its original meaning and purpose has changed.
Locan governments are trying to make some profits by using battlefields and people may think that visiting those places is just a part of their travel.
What will be a good idea to both pay tribute to the war dead and to help local governments make profits.

I think efforts of local governments are needed to improve its profits and remind history. In my expericence, battlefields have little visual data to inform tourists so that lots of people don't pay attention to the place. Governments have to upgrade infrastructure of tourism on battlefields.

It's very ubiquitous to see people going to battlefield tourism for their fun. Actually, I think treating battlefield tourism as place for fun is problem. It's own purposes are warning of a war and giving respect for the soldiers who fought for our country. If we treat the battlefield tourism as just funny thing, It will insult the great soldiers. Therefore, local goverment should not treat battlefield tourism as commercial thing. They just want to make profit through battlefield toursim. However, There is much more value in battlefield tourism more than commercial stuff. If we have to pay money to travel battlefield tourism, it's unacceptable situation because it means we have to pay for our history. Also, if we not change people's current considering about battlefield toursim, they will not go there because they think it's not so fun that they don't want want to pay for it. Thus the most important thing is to educate people's current notion and local goverment should not make profit for it.

The battlefield should be protected by goverment because battlefield has many historical meanings and visiting the spot could give a big chance to study their history for citizens who live in modern society.
However, battlefield tourism has changed the meaning of these spots as a amusement place not a historical place that should be preserved.
Battlefield is now just a course of tourism. Additionaly, a casino is being run in battlefield. It's not right to visit these spots just for amusement.
Battlefields is the place where many soilders or people sacrifice their life for freedom or other things such as country.
So I think that we should memorize their sprit of sacrifice by visiting thses places not for entertainment

I think battlefiled tourism is not problem itself. The problem is caused by notion of tourists. If the tourists think battlefiled tourism is just tour course, they never get the meaning of battle and pay tribute to a lot of people killed in battle. So, the local governments have to build up infrastructure of battlefiled tourism to make the tourists have sympathy with the dead and notions of the horrors of war. The tourists, furthermore, have to change their mind. They, also, have to think battlefiled tourism is not course of tourism but the process of respecting the dead. In conclusion, the problem must be treated by both the local governments and the tourists.
