Do you want to study English as a second language in America?

Washington DC

Overview:

+ The museums and the architecture of the government buildings.
- The homeless population.

The public transportation is good. The taxis are expensive, but the subway or Metro should get you anywhere in the city you need to go.

I know it's the capital and everything, but I just don't feel safe in most parts of this city. Even in the nice areas of the city, people who may have been homeless but who were certainly strange and dirty tried to start conversations with me. I was never touched or threatened, but it made me uncomfortable even though I was in a group of four (my parents and my wife).

Of course, Washington D.C. is famous for the Smithsonian museums, and they are excellent. For more information about New Orleans, Washington DC Lonely Planet is a good place to start.
