I've never been to Miami but I have a few students who have either studied there or traveled there for spring break (while they were supposed to be studying).
I'm told that Miami is a lot of fun thatnks to the beaches and the parties - I'm sure my students didn't tell me most of what they did on spring break! However, two female students have reported running into weird, sketchy guys in Miami. Also several people have been told that Miami is not safe for tourists. Now eventually you would hope to blend in if you're going to study in Miami for a few months or more but it's still something to consider.
